C'mon get happy!

With all the stress we experience from our hectic schedules, we often forget to take time out. It's downright baffling that many of us feel guilty when we take a break or splurge on a much-needed treat.

You don't need to take a trip to an exotic location like the Caribbean or spend oodles of cash to make yourself feel good. Just check out these simple yet uplifting moves and pick one that will give you that happy buzz:

Stay positive. Too many bad days will take their toll on you. If you're always throwing fits and having meltdowns, your heart will suffer from a great deal of strain. Over time, this response could hurt the cardiovascular system, as well as weaken immunity.

Choose good friends. People with a close circle of friends could outlive those who claim to be contented with "strong family ties." Experts theorize that this happens because you experience more emotional stress with your relatives, whom you're bound to be with whether you like them or not. When it comes to your friends, it's likely that you enjoy their company more because you got to pick them.

Take leaps of faith. Playing it safe is good - but it may keep you from doing something great or prevent you from getting the best things that life has to offer. Risk-takers don't let the outcome of their ventures affect them. Whether or not they got what they wanted or missed it completely is immaterial. The fact that they had the guts to go for their dream goals is more than enough.

Get wet. The air around bodies of water is full of energy-enhancing ions that help bring oxygen to the brain. If the beach is a long way off and there's no pool near you, just open the bathroom window and get into the shower. This "wet session" helps energize and soothe your brain, which, in turn, leads to having clarity and a more positive view on things.

After all, it's not a crime to treat yourself well.

Boss of Me! on Popular bestseller list!

Ha ha! This is so cool.

Popular Bookstore holds many great memories for me - it was THE place to go for school stationary and 10-year series assessment books.

It is still one of the leading book stores here and I'm thrilled that my book is doing well there.

Surround yourself with positive, successful people

I can't emphasize this enough. If you have a negative spouse, friends or boss and you just can't bring yourself to get rid of them, find a bunch of people who are cheerful, positive and happy to hang around with and spend the majority of your time with them.

Thankfully for me, I have my band of "cheerleaders" - my brilliant sisters whom I turn to for all my business decisions, my hubby who always provides a listening ear to the business mumbo jumbo I'm spewing, my ever-supportive mum who quietly tolerates my tattoos and shaved head, and of course my circle of friends without which I'll have less laugh lines but be more dour.

P.S. On the above topic, I have exciting news coming up...I've been hibernating at home hard at work for the last few weeks and the results will be revealed soon...until then I am under embargo.

R.I.P

Randy Pausch died today of complications from pancreatic cancer at age 47. Randy recently became famous for his "Last Lecture" when he talked to his students at Carnegie-Mellon after he learned that he only had months to live. It's definitely worth your time to watch this video of what he said:

Makes you realize how short life is and Randy gives you a few ideas on how to make it worth living. Enjoy Randy's inspiration in memory of his amazing spirit and his desire to help YOU have an impact in your own life.
I'll leave you with this quote from Anna Eleanor Roosevelt: “Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product.”

My motivation

http://www.balistreetdogs.com/

In the book, The Art of Happiness, by the Dalai Lama, he says that the basic fact is that all sentient beings, particularly human beings, want happiness and do not want pain and suffering, and if we are lucky enough to be living a good life, we should recognize this gift and thank God for it by looking out for others who need our help in breaking out of the cycle of poverty.
If we give something away, we actually get something back in return: happiness.

Latest update from my publisher: Boss of Me! has sold out its first run and we are going for a reprint! It is being translated for India and will also be selling in Hong Kong! All this even before media publicity has kicked in. Wow!

I believe that once you find your calling in life, everything moves smoothly, enabling you to achieve your mission.
